Drilling Division

This Division operates our 'Pioneer' range of dual-purpose Dynamic Sampling and Rotary drilling rigs. There are two specialist departments within the Division: 

 

  • Geotechnical Drilling:

This Department provides specialist drilling solutions for the geotechnical industry nationwide. Our team of 6 professional and highly experienced drill crews are equipped with the most modern rigs and equipment to enable us to provide the best service to our clients, who also benefit from the wealth of in house knowledge and experience we have gained in over 45 years as a Site Investigation contractor.

  • Geoenvironmental Drilling:

This Department provides for the needs of the environmental Ground Investigation and Remediation industry throughout the UK, and also has has 6 teams of professionally trained crew and a modern fleet of rigs, vehicles and equipment. Please contact Simon Stewart if you have requirements in these areas.  

Our current drilling capabilities include: 

  • Standard dynamic sampling to produce lined cores
  • Conventional rotary coring with varied flush media in all rock formations
  • Rotary open hole drilling
  • Hollow Stem Augering in 200mm and 300mm diameter (with or without sampling)
  • Clean drilling / Aquifer protection  
  • A full suite of in hole testing including SPT, U100/70, piston sampling, packer testing etc..
  • Installation of Inclinometers, well installations, ground water or gas monitoring points etc..
  • Installation of Ground Loop Heat Exchange circuits
  • Correct provision and methodology for driling on Red Sites, Petrol Forecourts, Landfill sites etc.. 
  • Borehole decommissioning by pressure grouting /overdrilling 
  • Maximum diameters/depths (other than Augers) are from 150mm to an approximate depth of  80metres.
