Geotechnical 'Pioneer' Rigs
Our multi-purpose Pioneer drilling rig was developed by us as a versatile, compact yet powerful machine to carry out a wide variety of ground investigations in many different situations.
In the right ground conditions…our 'Pioneer' series of rigs are capable of:
- Dynamic sampling of soils to 20m deep to obtain near-undisturbed continuous samples up to 112mm diameter retained in a plastic liner, forming boreholes of up to 128mm diameter.
- Rotary core drilling to 80m deep to obtain continuous rock cores of up to 112mm diameter, using a range of drilling flushes.
- Working in restricted areas, and forming boreholes (and sampling) at any angle.
- Hollow stem flight auger boring to 30m, forming boreholes of up to 300mm diameter and allowing installation of up to 150mm diameter standpipes.
- Standard penetration testing (SPTs) in general accordance with BS1377
- Installing standpipes, monitoring wells, biaxial inclinometer tubing and various other instruments.
- Forming boreholes for a variety of ground remediation techniques
- Coring neat 250mm diameter holes through hard-standing, prior to hand dug inspections pits
- Rotary percussive and open hole drilling to 100m depth
- Moving around sites on rubber tracks with minimal disturbance, coping with difficult terrain
The Pioneer rigs are easily mobilised to site on trailers towed by Landrovers, or on 'flat-bed' trucks, accompanied by a large van carrying all ancillary equipment and materials.
The rig can be adapted to reduce the access width to 1.0m and the operating height to 2.50m. You may download the Pioneer Datasheet here....
