Working On Rail

We have a team of specially qualified and trained engineers and drillers who provide a full ground investigation service for geotechnical assessment of the railway infrastructure. We work with a wide variety of Engineering Consultants on embankments, cuttings, tunnels, bridges, stations, signals and associated railway sites.

We are a registered Link Up supplier (ID no. 14500) for "Geotechnical Engineering – contractors", and we meet the criteria for the provision of the Link Up Core Module for the UK rail industry.

Our staff are all PTS qualified, and some of them also have COSS, IWA, LANTRA (vegetation clearance) and PASMA (scaffolding erection) qualifications. They are familiar with the demands of working to tight schedules during the day, the night and at weekends.

Our services include:

  • Walkover surveys and initial site assessments
  • Trial pits, logging, laboratory testing and factual reporting
  • Drilling, sampling, in situ testing, installing and monitoring instruments, using the capabilities of our P45, P60, Terrier, Window sampling and Pioneer rigs

The P45 and P60 rigs were developed by us specifically for working on steep slopes, up to 45°, such as railway embankments and cuttings, earth-fill reservoirs and motorway slopes.
